Road to the Cross - Sacrifice

This message takes us on a powerful journey through Genesis 22, where Abraham faces the ultimate test of faith: being asked to sacrifice his beloved son Isaac on Mount Moriah. What makes this story so profound is not just Abraham's obedience, but the incredible foreshadowing it contains. Notice how Isaac carries the wood for his own sacrifice up the mountain, just as Jesus would later carry His cross. Abraham's declaration that 'God will provide the lamb' wasn't just hopeful thinking—it was prophetic. Though God provided a ram caught in thorns that day, He was pointing forward to the true Lamb who would come with a crown of thorns. The same mountainous region where Abraham nearly sacrificed Isaac is where Jesus would actually be sacrificed for us all. This connection invites us to consider what sacrifices we're being called to make in our own lives. Not the sacrifice of our children, but the sacrifice of whatever stands between us and an intimate relationship with God. Whether it's habitual sin, misplaced priorities, or attitudes that weigh us down, we're challenged to lay these things at the altar. The road to the cross is indeed a road of sacrifice, but it's also the road to abundant life and freedom.
