Road to the Cross - Betrayal

Mar 22, 2026    Pastor Chad Byrd

This powerful message takes us on the road to the cross, exploring one of the most painful aspects of Jesus's journey: betrayal by those closest to Him. We witness Judas, one of the twelve disciples, selling out the Son of God for a mere thirty pieces of silver. Yet in this heartbreaking moment, we discover something extraordinary about purpose and perseverance. Despite knowing He would be betrayed, Jesus called Judas 'friend' and remained focused on His divine mission. The message challenges us to examine our own responses to betrayal and disappointment. When people let us down, when circumstances seem unfair, when our calling is questioned—do we abandon our purpose, or do we press forward like Christ did? We're reminded that betrayal does not cancel God's purpose in our lives. Just as Joseph endured rejection by his brothers, false accusations, and imprisonment before seeing his dreams fulfilled, we too must trust that our difficult seasons are part of a larger story. The call is clear: forgive like Christ forgave, stay focused on our ministry despite distractions, and find hope in Him to accomplish what He's placed before us. Our purpose isn't dependent on others' approval or support—it's anchored in God's unchanging plan for our lives.
