Ron and Sharon grew up together in church. Having attended the Church of God in Peoria, Illinois as children, they fell in love as teenagers and finally married in 1985. Forty years of marriage later and their love for each other and the Lord is stronger than ever.  Ron and Sharon were  blessed to have wonderful families who loved the Lord and made ministry a priority -  a legacy they have looked to pass along to others.

They have been blessed with two wonderful sons who have spent their lives working in and around the church. Ministry was never a job, but a lifestyle for the Simmons family. They have since been blessed with  a wonderful  daughter-in-law and now look to pass their inheritance down to the next generation with the three grandchildren they worship with every Sunday.

Pastor Ron and Sharon have been involved in various ministry roles for the past 30+ years. They have pastored, re-started and even planted a church before coming to Lakeside in Norman Oklahoma.

Sharon grew up the daughter of a Worship leader that instilled the Heart of Worship into her at an early age. Her love for worship and music has enabled her to be a blessing to the Lord and to others. You don't have to be around Sharon long to sense her love for Worship - a gift she has passed to her sons and now to the grandchildren. Sharon has sung in numerous State Ministry events and has always been active in ladies Ministry.

Pastor Ron and Sharon hope to make their next phase of ministry the most memorable as they help Lakeside transition to the Next Generation of Ministry God has in store!

Chad and Christy Byrd share a heart for ministry and a passion for encouraging others through faith, relationships, and genuine connection. Chad brings over 25 years of ministry experience, serving in a variety of roles. He has deep roots at Lakeside Church of God and considers it a joy to serve as part of the ministry team. In addition to his work in the church, Chad has also invested in the local community through years of coaching. Together, Chad and Christy find purpose in walking alongside others and pointing them toward lasting hope. They also enjoy spending time with their family, especially their children and grandchildren.

With 17 years of marriage and four incredible boys, they are a family rooted in faith and community. Their journey began at Lakeside, where Patrick grew up and where Sabrina now calls home. It was at Lakeside that their paths first crossed, leading to a beautiful union at The Church.

For Patrick, Crosswalk holds a special place in his heart—a place where he feels called to serve the youth of this generation. With 15 years of combined experience in youth ministry, they believe that God has opened doors to bring them back to their home church, where they are dedicated to ministering to the youth of today, who are the future of tomorrow.

Their family is deeply involved in both church and community life, with their four boys keeping them on their toes both inside and outside the church walls. They are passionate about their faith and excited for the journey ahead.

Christie’s love for music began at a very young age, thanks to her musically inclined father, who loved the church and never missed an opportunity to serve whenever the church doors were opened.

She married her high school sweetheart, Scott, in 1991. They are the proud parents of 3 sons and have been abundantly blessed with 9 grandchildren.

Christie’s love for Jesus overflows in Worship through song. It is her passion and heart’s desire that the church enters into a life of Worship with her and experience the freedom and joy that comes when you submit your life to Him.

As Lakeside’s Administrator and Coffee Shop Ministry leader, LueAnn ‘LueLue’ Garrett combines her gifts of organization and hospitality to support the church and create meaningful spaces of connection. She was born and raised in South Oklahoma City before moving to Norman, where she and her family now call home. LueLue and her husband, Terry, have been happily married for 43 years. Together, they are blessed with three adult children and four amazing grandchildren. She loves spending time at her cabin, where she finds rest and renewal. Her passion is helping people experience the love of Christ in everyday moments.

Emily White serves as a Church Administrator here at Lakeside. She is married to her wonderful husband, Matthew, and together they have a beautiful daughter, Paisley, who keeps life fun and full of joy.

In this role, Emily supports the day-to-day operations of the church, organizes communication, and helps ensure everything runs smoothly behind the scenes. She loves serving our church family and creating a welcoming, organized environment where people can grow in their faith.
