Called to Serve

This powerful message reminds us that we weren't created to be passive observers of God's work—we were designed to be active participants in His kingdom. Drawing from Ephesians 4, we discover that every believer has been called to serve, not just those with specific ministry titles. The sermon beautifully illustrates how God's plan for humanity has always included purposeful work, starting in the Garden of Eden where Adam was given the responsibility to tend and care for creation. Even before sin entered the world, we were created with a divine purpose to serve. The message then walks us through how salvation restores us to that original design—we're not just saved from something, but saved for something. First Peter 4:10 reminds us that each of us has received gifts meant to be used in service to others. What's particularly challenging is the restaurant analogy that compares our church service to wait staff—we are all servers of the Word, working together to ensure that those who come hungry for God leave satisfied. When we embrace this calling to serve, we discover something transformative: the joy, peace, and fulfillment we've been searching for are actually byproducts of laying down our lives in service to others, just as Christ did for us.
