Fearless

Pastor Patrick Holmes

This powerful message confronts one of humanity's most common struggles: fear. Drawing from 2 Timothy 1:7, we're reminded that God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind. The message traces fear back to its origin in Genesis 3, when sin entered the world through Adam and Eve's disobedience. Before that moment, there was only fellowship with God—no fear existed. This reveals a profound truth: fear is not from God, but is a tool of the enemy designed to control us. The enemy doesn't need to destroy us if he can paralyze us with fear. Throughout Scripture, we see God commanding His people to 'be strong and courageous,' especially in Joshua 1 where this phrase appears multiple times. The message challenges us to recognize that fear weakens our power, destroys our love, and confuses our thoughts—working against everything God has given us. Using the illustration of a pack of lions, we're shown that we never face our fears alone. We have the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit standing with us, forming an unstoppable force against any intimidation the enemy tries to bring. When fear tries to raise its head, we must remind it: 'You didn't come from God, so you can't stay here anymore.' This is our call to live fearlessly in every area of life—finances, health, relationships, and faith.
